I think he could be some day, but if Cain has his head on straight and puts the work in, there's no way he's not the #1 wr next year. Especially in the position he plays in this offense. Only way I could see that changing is if they move him over to start Higgins at the 9 position

Cain will have more yards but Powell will be playing at the spot our guy just broke the receptive record

If Cain develops a more subtle push-off technique, look out.

Yeah I worry as our #1 he'll get called for those. He's had a few bad push offs

So would you have said Scott was our #1 over Williams this past year?

I don't get into the 2,5,9 mess to much. I just go on players. I'm not sure if Mike Williams had the most receptions last year but I considered him our #1.

I think Cain is just primed.

I loved him in the NCG. That screen pass for the first down was a thing of beauty and I'll never not love him getting away with the push off right in front of Saban

Paul stated in an article this week that Dabo still has two scholarships in his pocket: Any idea how?

He probably printed them out. I'm not sure how large they are, so he may have had to fold them a couple of times.

I think Paul's numbers are off. Everyone seems to think that Seth Ryan was on scholarship last year (even the Clemson website), but that would have put us at 86 unless someone like Huegal was paying his own way. We're at 84 as best as I can tell.

    Maybe Paul isn't counting Wiggins?

Think I remember Dabo saying during the year that they had no plans to apply for a medical redshirt for him.

Saw this tidbit in the TI article and figured it might trigger a few people on this board:
"Richard is not the oldest guy in the tight end room -- D.J. Greenlee is a fifth-year senior, and Cannon Smith is also a redshirt junior -- but he's clearly been identified as the guy who needs to become the dominant personality of the group."

The name Greenlee followed by 5th year senior will absolutely trigger someone because giving him and players like him scholarships is keeping us from winning a natty

Is this meant to be sarcastic since we won the natty or serious about winning future nattys?

100% sarcasm. That was the argument that got rehashed every time we started to finish up the recruiting class. Pretty sure we had that same argument in the recruiting thread before the natty.

Some people in here want to be UF, UGA or Tenn and not Clemson. While I'm not a huge fan of the 3rd string 5th year senior, it is extremely difficult to argue with the consistent success of the program. It might get a little ugly after the 2018 season, but I think it will end up working out with some graduating 4th year juniors. Hopefully.....

As long as Saban is at bama, the argument will always be that we need to process everyone who hasn't contributed because he does.

I appreciate you helping out. I read that and thought it was funny considering the amount of times that argument had been had recently. My own opinion is that a 3rd string 5th year senior is a bit ridiculous but you can't chase him away. There is likely some solid middle ground between don't process anyone and Saban's route of process anyone who doesn't contribute in a big way.

As far as I know Papa Greenlee is still on staff, his kid was never getting processed. Now red shirting him may have been a little ridiculous but as y'all said, hard to argue at this point.

Noah Green has taken a medical hardship. Now at 81 scholarships prior to fall practice.

    To recap attrition YTD:
    Fruhmorgen - Transfer
    Dye - Transfer
    Baker - Transfer
    Pagano - Transfer
    Green - Medical Hardship

As of right now, we have 12 open spots for the 2018 class. I see 3-5 Jrs who could test the NFL waters (Wilkins, Ferrell, Hyatt, maybe Cain and Joseph). That would put us at 15-17 spots before even looking at the 13 rJrs on the roster. An 18-20 person class for 2018 is looking more likely than unlikely.

We'll take 15 max and be at 83 or 84 around the end of the spring again. Some walk on will get a free year on scholarship. And I don't give a shit anymore because we are winning.
