Rookie Progress Report: Wayne Gallman turning heads
RB Wayne Gallman continues to impress in his rookie season with the Giants:
It’s time to start talking about Wayne Gallman.
Despite Orleans Darkwa getting the official start in 10 consecutive games, Gallman, the Giants’ rookie fourth-round draft choice, has taken over recently. Over the last two weeks, he leads the Giants backfield in rushing attempts (20), rushing yards (98), targets (16), receptions (13) and receiving yards (80). His 13 catches are tied with wide receiver Sterling Shepard for the most on the team in that span.
On Sunday against the Eagles, Gallman led the way with eight carries for 39 yards, in addition to six catches for 40 yards. Gallman has yet to find the end zone as a rusher, while his only career score to date came on a four-yard pass in his NFL debut in Week 4. His long play is a 15-yard catch, but according to Pro Football Focus, no Giants running back has forced more missed tackles (19) than Gallman this season.
“Yeah, I thought Wayne’s been making some plays,” quarterback Eli Manning said after the Eagles game. “Runs hard, had a couple nice runs [on Sunday], had some nice catches, making some guys miss. So being creative, keep finding ways for him to get some catches and we’re ready for him to break a long one.”
TD for Sammy.
Sammy has been a td machine the last half of the season.
49ers are a totally different team with Jimmy G. If you were watching today's game you would never suspect Jacksonville is the playoff team here.
Welp, I jinxed the fuck out of the Niners. Since I posted that, the Jags blocked an XP and returned it for 2, then intercepted a deflection in the endzone, then completed their own TD off of a goddamn deflection. Tie game at the half. The fuck.
Jimmy G undefeated as a starter. John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan are set for years to come.
Anointing after 3 games? I'm old enough to remember when Dak Prescott was the next big thing.
I've seen enough of Jimmy since he was drafted to be a believer. It was a huge deal up here when the Pats finally traded him because word is coach Bill wanted to move Brady and keep him but Kraft wouldn't allow it. Jimmy G is legit
Pats fans want to anoint Jimmy G because historically every QB to leave their system has sucked.
Not hating on Jimmy because he seems like a good guy, but yeah I’ll need to see more than 3 good games.
Historically, every qb that has ever started in the NFL has sucked. Qb at that level has to be the most difficult thing to be successful at.
Yeah, I might be hitting the egg nog too hard, but watching him has been a revelation. I know it's normally better to hold off and wait on these things, but I feel like I've seen enough with Jimmy. This isn't some Dak routine where he's just handing the ball off to Ezekiel Elliott behind the league's best OL, and he doesn't have anyone as talented as Witten or Dez Bryant.
He just had a great game against the league's #1 defense after being with the Niners for less than half a season and posted the best completion % and passer rating on the Jags thus far this season. He's 4-0 with a team that went 1-10 before he got there. The guy seems to have some legit magic to him, and the whole team is playing better since he got there.
This first season has turned out to be a monster for Lynch and Shanahan, and they have a ton of cap money and extra draft picks to use this offseason. Obviously anyone who passed on DW4 looks foolish, but at least the Niners fleeced the Bears and came out of this draft with several solid players like Thomas, Foster (monster if he can just avoid getting dinged up), Witherspoon, Kittle, etc. and then used a second to land their franchise QB.
It's cool watching Shanahan scheme WRs wide the fuck open all over the place, and now he has a QB who can make those reads and throws. In conclusion, I am totally gay for Jimmy G.
Yeah if I’m being honest I think Garop is gonna be a good QB. I just hate my system QB narrative being ruined.
So basically you like him more than Deshaun. Even if it's lies that's what I'm going with.
Guess those 16 game seasons make a difference in stats
Competition is tougher in the acc iyam.
Awesome TD grab for Nuk. Tipped it to himself and caught it in the corner of the endzone.
I think I’ve seen about 174 different “catch of the year” this year alone between college and nfl.
Bryant looks about half a foot taller. He could be such an elite wr
We've mostly eliminated that discrepancy by playing 15 game seasons.
Jaron Brown TD.
Byron Maxwell wearing 41 there in the endzone. Did not extend a hand to help his Clemson brother up haha.
Not the first time a team from Ohio has put up a 0.
Grady Jarrett is the GOAT Tiger imo
