My wife is from Spartanburg. Seems like this place is mentioned every year. I need to try it out.

You're the other one who recommended it in the past to me. I work in Spartanburg but I can't get away from the hospital to go to the one in Spartanburg so Greenville it is...and the Kraken it will be for sure.

Nothing too fancy here. Really just has three core ingredients, but you can add things as you see fit. Here's how my wife makes it:

1 lb jimmy dean hot sausage
1 large jar of pace picante medium
    1 large block of velveeta

    brown the sausage
cut up the velveeta and melt in microwave
mix it all together in crockpot and let cook on low

I can't find anything on it online. What's it called, and where is it downtown?

No, I don't. I know the owner, the guy cooking, and the employees but never have asked what it's called. I'm not sure it has a name. It's just barbeque

Serious question ... what's a couple of decent restaurants in Anderson? Having my oldest at Clemson we're wanting to have a nice dinner on occasion for her but am not familiar with DT Anderson.

    Spartanburg/Greer/Duncan guys....

Found a hidden gem in Lyman today. Took the kids to the park in the morning and stopped at Hot Dog Cafe right off Highway 29 on the left as you are exiting Lyman and heading towards Spartanburg.

Hot Dogs are good, not great (had a bite of my son’s). The real star was the hamburger, and I’d put it up against Ike’s any day. Great grind, great size, great flavor, under $5. Pretty sure the “single” was 1/2 lb, but they have double cheeseburgers on the menu. Nothing fancy, but you can add toppings like jalapeños and pimento cheese. The fries are cut in house and not twice fried; that’s means they are not really crispy, but you get a ton of potato flavor. They also have stuff like homemade lemonade and steamed moonpies.

Cash only (ATM inside) but the place was packed today. Clean inside (think they’ve moved to this location in the last year), mom and pop owned operation. Highly recommended.

Sullivan's is really good. For a more relaxed atmosphere hit up Doolittle's, Summa Joe's, or Earle St.

Wife's family was once owners of this place up in lyman/wellford. It has had a bunch of different owners over time. Will have to try this version out though.

$5.89 each, which is crazy. It’s a 2 lb pizza.

I went yesterday. This must have been fake news because there were none. Left with just a gallon of milk and some cashews.

This isn’t going to make you happy, but it was not with the rest of the pizzas. It was in a stand-alone cooler island. Good call on the cashews though.
