I would like to partake in some of this. It looks so good.
your friend Roderick Weaver?
just read an article and it sparked my memory of your post hah
Yep. Frands with him way back in the '90s when he had half a head of hair. Great guy.
I'm just starting it, but Louisiana Eats is doing an episode about oysters. Mmmmmm. I don't dig seafood in general, but give me a good raw oyster and I'm fucking happy.
Any invites left?
Yes I have 2. Just PM me your name and email and you do the rest from there. Im hoping at some point me inviting people gets me some kind of reward. haha.
I got sick on raw oysters once. Never again.
Going to Lewis BBQ tonight
Making my buddy and his wife come along so I make sure I get to sample a bit of everything.
I went with a couple of friends last Saturday. We checked out the Westbrook taproom first, then Lewis.
I did the chopped brisket sandwich and a link of the Texas Hot Guts. I tried a bite or two of the Green Chile Corn Pudding too.
All of it was good, but that brisket, whew. You really don't even need sauce.
Ghost Monkey is a new brewery opening up there tonight. I'm a little bummed I can't make it down to see what that's all about.
Had the green chile corn pudding last Friday. May have been better than the brisket.
You shut your whore mouth. The pudding was great, but ain't nothin' there better than that brisket.
Recommended Lewis to someone on Facebook and another guy chimed in saying he and his wife thought Swig and Swine had better brisket.
Having had both, swig and swine is decent, but didn't leave me raving.
When he cuts your brisket, does he has you if you want pieces from the flat or point?
Well, that guy is dumb and he has a dumb wife.
Went to Lewis last week and got a chopped brisket sandwich. No reason to get it on bread. The brisket needs no accompaniment.
Well fuck you @19B and @OrangeONeill all I can think about is eating tasty brisket now. And I got nothing.
I guess im driving to Williamston tonight
The CodFather in North Charleston. This is pretty much the entire menu (except for mush peas which I wanted but my dad had already ordered for us by the time I got there).
The cod was pretty perfect when I popped in. Tiny little place, too.
I hear their radio ad every morning on the way to work. Been meaning to try it out.
Came into work today and found a jar of Duke's mayonnaise on my desk. One of the women in the office found it at World Market up here. Previously had not been anywhere in state.
I couldn't imagine life without Dukes. About to go make me a sammich now.
I prefer Hellmans. The best is homeade, and pretty easy to make.
I didn't know Dukes was a regional thing.
To me, it's probably the most clear cut example of one brand's product being clearly better than the others. Outside brands taste so much different it's baffling.
Duke's or GTFO.
I traditionally substitute Greek yogurt or avocados for mayonnaise.
This annoys me. There are no citrus notes in Dukes. Other mayo products use lemon or lime juice but dukes doesn't.
I guess it's like wine snobs. It's kinda hard to argue with them. But it's still a stupid take.
Seriously, like a two minute process and astonishingly better.
I've made aioli plenty of times, usually to go with artichokes or something I'm dipping; it's good, but it's quite different from something like Duke's (or other shelf mayo, for that matter). I wouldn't know how to replicate Duke's mayo.
Might as well try and replicate pussy. There is no proper substitute.
What do you substitute for being an American?
Ate at Zablong Peculiar Pizza in Charlotte for lunch and had good pizza.
Southern Cream, Garlic Purée, Mozzarella, Sweet Corn, Pork Belly Bacon, Fresh Basil
Going to Cabo Fish Taco tonight .
I went to Char Grill at Davidson for lunch.
