Nick Saban updates injury information for Sugar Bowl
    From ESPN Selection Show

"Well we have had 40 games missed by starters on defense. I think we are going to get 37 of those starts back for this game. Jones did get a knee in the Auburn game so he will be out and he was a starter in the secondary. But I think the rest of our team is going to be relatively healthy for this game other than Shaun Dion Hamilton who got a knee in the LSU game so getting some of these players back, the two outside backers, the two inside backers especially Mack Wilson is going to be huge for us."

Clemson's depth > Alabama's depth. And our guys just got to rest in the second half of the conference championship, while that depth got more practice.

For all the guys we lost on offense, they've lost a shit ton of defensive talent as well the last two years. Guys like Allen and Foster were all-time Bama greats the same way that Deshaun was for us on offense.

No, not over Alabama getting into the four-team College Football Playoff over Big Ten champion Ohio State. But rather, over the opening lines for the two national semifinal showdowns. Covers gets you right into those numbers and early action in Las Vegas, with insights from Chris Andrews, sportsbook director at the South Point, and Jay Kornegay, who runs the Superbook as vice president of race and sports for the Westgate Las Vegas.

No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide vs. No. 1 Clemson Tigers – Open: Pick; Move: -1

Alabama had the weekend off, missing out on the SEC Championship Game after falling to Auburn 26-14 as a 6-point road favorite in the regular-season finale. The Crimson Tide (11-1 SU, 5-7 ATS) still managed to edge out Ohio State for the final CFP berth.

Defending national champion Clemson (12-1 SU, 8-4 ATS) boatraced Miami in the ACC final, winning 38-3 as a 12.5-point neutral-site favorite in Charlotte, N.C. Saturday. The Tigers and Tide met in the last two CFP Championship Games, with Bama winning two years ago and Clemson winning last year. The Tigers covered the spread in both games.

“We opened at pick. I kept saying I really thought Clemson should be the favorite, but that they’d bet Alabama,” Andrews said. “We’re up to -1 on Bama, a little public, a little sharp. I don’t mind Clemson at plus anything. We’ll see where bettors take me.”

The Superbook opened the Tide -1, briefly shot to -2, then dropped to -1 before splitting the difference at -1.5. The modest discrepancies between books doesn’t surprise Kornegay.

“The market’s just trying to settle down,” Kornegay said. “Every book is like that right now, flying around. There are a lot of respected opinions out there. It’s not like we’ve got guys with both hands full of money, making bets. Most people are just soaking it in. If respected players make a bet, you’re gonna move it, and you’ll also moved based on what the market is doing.”

I think I'd rather play anyone else, but we've got the better offense and we've got the better defense. Don't step on our dicks with turnovers or special team blunders and we advance.

If Bama didn’t get in all we’d hear about are the what if’s after they destroyed ucf in the bowl. I wanted osu, but beating Bama would cement our place in college football.

You mean, Venables gets a month to prepare as well? Especially against a QB that can't throw? Yeah, I like our chances. Fuck Bama. We're going to win.

This is the least nervous I've been about facing Alabama.
I've eaten a CFA chicken burrito every gameday this year and will again this game. And as long as I get first beer in before noon I am confident this will be an ass whoopin of ouch my b-hole proportions.

Anybody else have a ridiculous pregame ritual that most definitely has an impact on the game?

    ESPN's Bowl Predix ...

    ++++++++

College Football Playoff at the Allstate Sugar Bowl: No. 4 Alabamavs. No. 1 Clemson

    [IMG][IMG]
(8:45 p.m. ET on ESPN at Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans)

The trilogy is completed with another instant classic, this time more of the defensive variety. Clemson's defensive line, anchored by Dexter Lawrence, will do enough to contain Alabama's run game, and the Tigers will get a late rushing score from running back Travis Etienne.

    Prediction: Clemson 27, Alabama 24

    Jan. 8
College Football Playoff National Championship presented by AT&T: No. 1 Clemson vs. No. 2 Oklahoma

    [IMG][IMG]
(8 p.m. ET on ESPN at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta)

The nation's most complete team and the nation's best quarterback square off, but Clemson knows what it takes to finish the job. Clemson DL Christian Wilkins will shine in his final college game as the Tigers become the first team to repeat since Alabama in 2012.

Prediction: Clemson 38, Oklahoma 30 (edit: fixed)

Bowl time is Bold time: A bold prediction for each SEC bowl game
JOE COX | 15 HOURS AGO

The ink may not even be dry on the bowl contracts. But it’s not holding us back. In the immediate aftermath of bowl announcements, we’re getting bold. Here’s a crazy prediction for each SEC-related bowl game:

Alabama by two scores over Clemson
It was a great day of news for the Tide — they got in, and they got what has to be their best possible match-up: a Clemson team that feasted on a not-so-great ACC.

In thumping Miami, Clemson rushed for 1.9 yards per carry. That won’t cut it against an Alabama team that has not forgotten last season by a long shot. Stripped of a running game, Kelly Bryant will not have a comfortable bowl game experience. Bama by two scores.

So, Saban is something like 94-1 when leading going into 4th quarter... we are the 1 in last years Title game.

Another Bama fact is that Bama, under Saban, has never lost back-to-back ballgames, Two losses in a row. I hope we yet again ruin some absurd statistic that Saban holds.

Actually they have. They lost to auburn to end the regular season in 2013 followed by a loss to a bad Oklahoma team in the sugar bowl.
