Agree on both counts.
Rogue One was awesome.
Yep, I loved it. That was the Star Wars film I've been wanting.
Another perfect Star Wars movie. The Force is really with Disney.
Saw it loved it. Only complaint is I wish they would've done the beginning like all the other movies. Last 40 minutes is the shit.
I'm glad that didn't. Reserve that treatment for the main movies
Surprisingly good. Remember that the Disney execs saw a first draft this past Spring and found it to be a disaster so they ordered major re-writes and the entire cast brought back to re-shoot it in quick fashion. So glad they made that decision to protect the franchise. One of the best in the series.
I never heard that about it. Always expected a 5* movie. It was arguably the best in the series.
FWIW, it sounds like that was bullshit: www.ew.com/article/2016/06/03/rogue-one-reshoots
Carrie Fisher passed away today.
She gave me one of my first boners.
This is a huge blow to the rebel alliance.
Seriously this really sucks. No idea how they go about handling her death post TFA.
They already finished filming Episode 8. Perhaps they'll do with her what they did w/ Grand Moff Tarkin in R1.
I wonder if they'll have to rewrite some of VIII to set up her exit instead of just noting her passing in the opening crawl for IX.
I can't imagine they'd pull a Tarkin with her. It's too soon.
I wouldn't consider it disrespectful but maybe some will.
FINALLY saw Rogue One tonight. Absolutely loved it, feel like that's the Star Wars movie I have wanted my whole life.
Today's event made the final shot extra sad :(
Damn, her mom died. What a fucked up week for her family.
Movie was phenominal. Had to see in IMAX 3D. Great lunch before. What a great Star Wars anthology piece this is in pure form!
Curious to what final title theme will be after they went with this for 8
The late Carrie Fisher will make an appearance from beyond the grave in the final Star Wars movie, her brother Todd Fisher tells Confidential.
After months of speculation about Carrie's future in the sci-fi saga, Todd has revealed that Disney bosses want to bring Princess Leia back for Episode IX. And he said he and Carrie's daughter, Billie Lourd, have granted the studio rights to use recent footage for the finale. It is understood that CGI will not be used to recreate Leia.
“Both of us were like, ‘Yes, how do you take her out of it?’ And the answer is you don't,” said Fisher, as he attended the opening night gala of the TCM Film Festival in Los Angeles, celebrating “In the Heat of the Night.”
“She’s as much a part of it as anything and I think her presence now is even more powerful than it was, like Obi Wan — when the saber cuts him down he becomes more powerful. I feel like that's what's happened with Carrie. I think the legacy should continue.”
To what extent Leia will figure in to the storyline is not clear. “I’m not the only part in that equation, but I think the people deserve to have her,” said Fisher. “She's owned by them.”
And he said he had total faith in the filmmakers to “do great things.”
“You don't mess with this legacy,” he said. “It would be like rewriting the Bible. To me, Star Wars is the holy grail of storytelling and lore and you can't mess with it.”
Fisher said he was “touched” and “proud” at the outcry of love that followed the deaths of his sister and their mother Debbie Reynolds, who died just days apart in December. And the actor and director said one of his next projects may be a collaboration of sorts with his late sister.
“Carrie and I grew up with a magical life, we really did, and there are a lot of stories to tell. Carrie and I actually wrote some things together. It's very likely that I'll get to those now sooner than I would have normally, because we didn't think the stories were going to end. Now that they’ve ended, the stories probably should be told. So there’s some magic left in us and there are a lot of Carrie’s words left unspoken that will be spoken.”
Yeah they've said her role in Ep8 won't be affected at all
Just don't screw up Rian Johnson's movie
Who's going LARPing?
Some more details on the Theme park. Looks like there might be a resort in the park that looks/feels like a starship.
And droid butlers.
Just saw rogue one for the first time. Goddamn they knocked it out of the park. The last 30ish minutes was incredible. The ending with vadar fucking shit up and the ship from new hope getting away was awesome. Leias cameo, the brief mention of obiwan, holy shit.
Some people hadn't seen it yet
Fucking luddites, go watch it already
It's the first (and likely only) one in the Star Wars franchise that is a legit war movie. Grand Moff Tarkin was amazing.
Yeah. I heard it was a good movie, but that's the best star wars movie I've seen since the original trilogy and its not close. Very, very well done. Hopefully that is the standard from Disney going forward.
I thought it was better than the original and RotJ, and on par with Empire. It was impressive.
It's a shame Lucas had to ruin the prequels. It'd be great to see that story done by a competent director and studio.
I am still hoping DISNEY will just redo episodes I-III.
I am still holding out hope that Disney goes back and gives those a redo. I know there is maybe a 1% chance of it happening but I would be very pleased if they did.
EDIT: Damn it @Adam beat me to it.
How did I not know about this until today?
