It will go the exact same as it goes every year. They’ll scapegoat the new OC/Bentley/the OL and say that this one fix is gonna correct everything for 2019.

That site is stuck on a Groundhog Day loop.

The major difference is Chad Morris had installed a proven offensive system that Elliott learned and adapted to. He has also had elite personnel to work with.

B.B. has a proven offensive system.

It shouldn't be hard for them to go 9-3 or better next year, so I imagine whoever they pick will see good first year results. It's a question of does the program CURRENTLY recruit players that will fit whatever the OC's system.

I'm kind of hoping they waste a few years on an uptempo OC or at least far enough away from Roper's plan that it's a convenience excuse since they haven't exactly recruited to that. That should leave them pretty screwed in 2-3 years.

I don't know much about Pease other than he was promoted from within at Boise for one year before joining Muschamp.
Roper was seems like an OC-in name only at Duke. Now the top two targets are yes man OCs who ran Freeze's offense?

Unless I'm just off base on this, it really looks like Muschamp wants an OC that's used to taking orders not one that has autonomy over that side of the ball.

I think this has always been the problem. Offense is the enemy to muschamp. He just wants a perfect defense with an offense that plays it safe and keeps the defense out of trouble.

    • MobileHow much play calling had they done?

Won a National championship and are still playing for another.

I say make B.B. and Bmac co OC’s and let’s roll. I know B.B. has a dynamic offense.

Especially is it means we lose Bmac if we don’t promote him.

Then bring in GOAT21 as RB coach and beat piss out of some people

    New OC...

Will be a Co-Coordinator combo of Bentley/McClendon. No need to break up a great coaching staff with an outside hire. Bentley will move to the QB coach and we will hire a RB's coach that can recruit his tail off.

10th coach will be on defensive side of the ball and help with Dline.

Just my 2 cents... But what do I know.

Why would it be a issue being his son. End of the day they both have jobs to do. I can see it if Jake would feel under pressure playing for Pops but at this point he is a rising Jr and experienced. I think they could make it work.

Like I posted in another thread, maybe I'd feel differently if Jake was coming off an All-SEC kind of year.
But South Carolina is coming off of a season offensively that was way below standard and Jake didn't play particularly well. I would hope and suspect that there will be a quarterback battle with Dakereon Joyner and Jay Urich, to some extent, in the spring and fall. I don't know if it should be up to dad to make that decision, although, I do expect Bentley to perform well enough to be the starter, and probably pretty clearly.
Brandon McIlwain and his family felt there was impropriety going on with Bobby being on staff, and he was only the running backs coach. Imagine what Dakereon Joyner is going to think if he has to sit behind Jake for a couple of years.
Frankly, I trust both guys - Bobby and Jake - to do their job. But there's no reason to put either guy in that situation to have to field those questions and deal with that situation.

Kevin Sumlin just went 51-26 as a HC in the SEC West, no chance in hell he's gonna go be Muschamp's OC. If anything they should want to demote Muschamp to DC and make him head coach.

I hope it’s true, but find it hard to believe Roper went against Muschamp’s wishes. He’s the HC, and can speak directly to Roper via headset during the game.

A lot of you aren't really getting it. It was Roper's job to run the offense. There are no discussions about calling this or calling that during the game other than maybe running the clock out or punt vs. go for it or the types of things head coaches do. The mandate was to have a prolific offense and put points on the board and there is a staff-wide mandate to develop players. Roper failed in that area and Muschamp determined that a new direction was needed on offense, particularly given the pedestrian nature of it and the fact the players regressed in their execution of it. Theoretically, it wasn't supposed to work that way. This was game performance related and thus, we are seeing change.

    ***Rhett Lashlee tidbit
    JC Shurburtt
Based on some things I've heard tonight, I think we need to cool it on the Rhett Lashlee talk (myself included) for a bit. He may not be as strong of a candidate right out the gate as what we had heard before. I am not saying he may not ultimately be the guy, but I think some have gotten the impression he was the early leader in the clubhouse. I spoke with a good source tonight who said he would be surprised if that were the case. Now, Lashlee could pop back up soon, too, but right now, that's what I know...

Just like tonight with the N.C. State OC, I anticipate names popping up in the coming weeks and for this to be a thorough process. It goes without saying it's a very important hire.

If my old memory serves me correctly.. wasn’t Carolina the first power 5 to offer Tindall after a camp evaluation? Then made him a priority?

I don't understand how being basically a competitor on the field somehow makes you not a Christian or family man. It's such a weird stance that it seems all SC fans subscribe to.
