Yeah, we just got power back after 28 hours out. Five houses in our neighborhood have trees through the roof. Good times.

A National Weather Service survey team has confirmed that tornadoes touched down in two places in South Carolina.

A statement from the weather service office in Greer said damage found in Cherokee County on Tuesday was the result of an EF-2 tornado. The weather service also said the survey team confirmed that an EF-2 tornado touched down and caused damage in Spartanburg County

Current view from outside my townhouse in Ventura, CA. This fire has spread so fast.

No evacuation order for my area yet, but have the car prepped to GTFO if necessary.

SNOW LIKELY ON FRIDAY: Whoa, the NAM model. All reliable computer models showing light snow across the area Friday. Just because it is going to snow doesn't mean the impact will be high. I don't expect major issues out of this, but it will need to be watched. The NAM model went bonkers overnight and says measurable snow in Greenville, Anderson and Spartanburg and quite a bit in the mountains. I pause at that. Nonetheless, I do expect snow to at least fall in many areas. SNOW METER: 5/10 for Upstate. The mountains are at an 8/10.

Yes, thanks. We are all good here .

Fire has stayed west of our place for the most part (for now). Thankfully we never had to evacuate, but it was terrifying for a few hours on Monday night. It is crazy that we are almost 36 hours from when this started and there is still no containment. Firefighters are doing an amazing job, but the wind has made it impossible for them to make any headway.

Now with the additional fires down in LA county the resources are even more spread out and the wind is supposed to get up to 90 mph tonight. Not a great combo.

The last 24 hours I've watched some videos from Chris Justus discussing potential for an ice/snow event next Thurs-Sat. The EURO model is showing it is going to get very cold after Christmas he said. It's going to be be in the 20s around the GSP area beginning I think Thurs morning and stay very cold for days according to the model he was showing just now.

What do the resident weather experts of DVU think of this upcoming weather post-Christmas?

Chris is acting like it's going to be very cold for a week or longer from Christmas until like Jan 5th or so. He was discussing the ice storm possibility next weekend and then another situation he was watching further out that sounds more like a snow event.

When it's get close to Christmas I start looking at long range forecasts to see if there is a shot of snow on or around Christmas. This useless bit of information is to tell you, I'd be surprised if there wasn't a winter weather event in the next 10 days around here.

You should have gone to Saluda Shoals. Much better. We took the kids last night. Santa looked awfully familiar. It was one of my high school buddy’s dad. He looked at me twice and said where are y’all from. Then I thought about it and said his sons name and he gave me a thumbs up.

    Cool story.

Fuck Saluda shoals. That traffic makes it impossible to drive to St. Andrews from my parents house. Used to be hellish when they let it back up onto old bush river
