My house was broken into today. Stole most of my guns and nothing else. Managed to find a key to the gun safe, which isn't kept where the gun safe is.

There is no way this wasn't someone I know.

    Fuck a thief.

You would be surprised at how much thieves know about gaining access to a safe for guns. Its probably not your typical thug looking for stuff to pawn. I had 2 rifles and a handgun stolen out of my truck a few years ago. The two guys responsible were caught several months later. They had everything inventoried in their house and had quite the system in place. They lived close to 2 hours from where I live.

    Oh and fuck a thief.

That would really be a shame if someone you knew would stoop to that level. I really hate you're having to go through that.

That's a shame. Glad they caught them.

Whoever it was, only wanted the guns. Nothing else is missing other than a range bag that had some spare mags and other crap in it. They walked right past two Ipads on the coffee table. I was cleaning some watches that were out in the open, didn't touch them. My wives jewelry was untouched.

Most of them are replaceable. A couple aren't (family heirlooms), but it is what it is.

There is nothing worse for a man to go thru, a tremendous sense of helplessness and frustration. I had something similar happen. Not To be discouraging but do everything you personally can on your own. I found most of what we lost myself with a lot of luck and keeping the investigators in the loop. Turned out to be someone familiar to me and a distant acquaintance. Very sorry good luck

Not sure dnr would do anything. I don't think the diseases they really care about would manifest themselves in that way.

Hard to tell from that image, but if it is a hairless, hardened, black growth, it is probably deer fibroma. Pretty common and nothing to worry about.

    Deer looks healthy otherwise.

Ducks need to fucking migrate already. Been hunting a few times since the zone I live in opened.. But we have shit for numbers. Went out Tuesday, it was a foggy, cold, windy day.. Saw 10 ducks in 3 hours.

Yup. I know the staff a a couple places. Habitat is fantastic. Ducks just need to show up. We haven't had a big migration event yet, though the snows in Nebraska could finally start pushing some down to us. Probably trying again before our game sat.

It is really hard to tell what it is, but I seriously doubt DNR would do anything about it, as their biological research is not a main priority (It seems weird, I know). If you really want to find out what it is, I would recommend sending it to a more research based organization, such as U.S. Fish and Wildlife or even Clemson.

Does SCDNR have anyone dealing with disease? Here in Kansas we have a couple people that respond to suspected zoonotic diseases. Usfws doesn't do much research anymore.

Always interested to hear how other people judge...I've always been taught that a doe by itself is likely a button buck. Was that the case here or was he with other deer?

Haven't been able to hunt much this year but hunting Thanksgiving morning is a tradition and we've had success at the tail end of the rut

It was with another big doe. They were both behind some brush. Watched them for about 10 min. It started getting dark. They wouldn't come out so when the doe picked her neck up I shot. Only problem was it was the smaller one. It dropped about 10 yards from where I shot it. When I saw it I was pissed. While I was cleaning it I started to wander if I maybe shot both. I never even went to the original spot to check because I was pissed.

I know they are really heavy into studying zoonotic diseases associated with feral hogs. You are probably more plugged into that sector than I am. My specialty (or what I love to do) deals with forest economics.

He is the state biologist with the nrcs. There are biologists with SCDNR, and I can get you their contacts on Monday if you tell me the area where your property is located.

Palmetto State Armory has the Reuger .380 LCP on sale for $199 during the holidays. Just got one for my wife to carry.

Have both the Ruger LCP and Taurus TCP. Let my wife choose between the two and she's much more comfortable with the Ruger. Much better trigger. Your wife will be happy with it. You got a great deal.

Also, holy crap on the buck.
