Ok man. Very brave of these cops to risk their lives in the stands like that
Dealing with beligerent drunks is very dangerous. Glad someone does it
The idea that people are even attempting to go down the road of excessive force with a drunken idiot who was so fucked up at a public event that she required a multiple person escort out while still managing to not "flail" but make clearly defined repeated movements towards one of the men (and no I don't think if they were in a boxing ring together that she would hurt him obviously) who was forcibly removing her is really sad. Am I 100% comfortable with his reaction? No. I don't like seeing a girl get punched in the face, but it's pretty easy for me to assign far more of the blame to the person who is in the process of committing multiple crimes.
There are clearly several cases of cops overstepping their bounds, but I seriously hope nothing major happens to this cop because he reacted to yet another drunken moron. Not fun seeing a woman get rocked, but trying to demonize the cop here and acting like he took some kind of Night's Watch vow that precludes him from throwing a single shot at a perpetrator in that instance is ludicrous.
Like others have said, he didn't take her down and go ground and pound. This wasn't Rodney King. If your argument begins with the words, "When I was drunkenly attempting to hit you, officer..." then you should probably do everyone a favor and STFU.
My first thought after watching the video was that The tradegy of it, is going to be how the cop reacted, and not how the drunk felon acted. I knew the spotlight and debates would be about him, and not the aggressor. I hate to image the reactions if the races were reversed.
Ok guys, my bad for posting the video.
Oh no, don’t turn this into a race thing. The conversation already sucks enough without that...
There's also an issue of respect in play. She fucking backhanded a cop. Whether people want to admit it or not, any free society needs authority figures, and attempting to backhand someone is a clear sign of disrespect that goes beyond trying to assault them. As you say, though, the arguments that emanate from this video will promote the victim methodology that permeates these types of encounters that frequently involve felons in the act of provoking authority figures.

Who's it going to be?
No idea right now. I just know that the two words that keep getting thrown around to me are "proven" and "winner". A&M does not want to hire someone who hasn't coached at a relatively high level and won some games. They're looking at people who have won or contended for a national or P5 title. That would include someone like James Franklin.
You pretending like this cop was in danger so he was justified in decking that woman is absurd.
That woman posed no threat to him. "She may have had a sharp object!" Bending over backwards to defend police brutality is a weird hill people love to die on.
Ok what the fuck is wrong with people. When did it become ok to just to disregard police and to start fights with them.
It doesn't get more white trash than smoking inside a stadium and attempting to flaunt it towards a policeman.
Police brutality lol
I'll be glad when this discussion is over.....shit.

Also, the donors had tried to gather themselves around Chad Morris. He's probably done at SMU because he's disgusted with the lack of fan support and is getting out a year ahead of what he should because of it.
Most non P5 guys don't get out until they've won ten games. I think that Morris knew that he needed to relocate himself to Texas so he could make a run at A&M or a comparable spot much like Franchione, Sherman (OC of the Texans at the time of his hire....people tend to forget that), and Sumlin did.
The problem was that SMU turned out to be a bigger rebuilding job than he imagined. Instead of taking three years to win ten games, it's going to take four years...and even then winning ten games at SMU is not guaranteed. However, he ran out of patience and has pushed the envelope there. As a result, he's 6-3, probably headed to 7-5, and although there will be a lot of openings that might come available to him A&M will not be one of them unless someone steps in and pulls some strings on his behalf...and that's not going to happen as long as Woodward and Young are running the process.
And you pretend that it’s ok to assault an officer and they just sit and take it. That is what’s absurd. Cops didn’t have time to search her. No telling what she could have had in her hand or on her. She was in the wrong. Do what the cop tells you and this doesn’t happen.
The standard for a cop is way different than the standard for dude off the street trying to diffuse a situation.
Watching some old smug ass entitled bitch from Bama get cuffed and dragged off warms my heart.
I really hate people
No one is arguing it's ok to hit a cop. She committed a crime and absolutely should be charged for it.
There's a big gap between "sit and take it" and "smash her in the face"
I'm moving on from this because we apparently aren't gonna agree that a woman being carried by 4 cops posed no threat to the cop.
"poses no threat"... Hits cop in the face. Maybe if he caught a knuckle or finger in the eye and lost it you'd change your moronic thoughts on the matter
What happens if he doesn't hit her? She continues to assault them. Then it could escalate even further. He nipped it in the bud. He defused the situation before it got possible worse. Anyways I do agree let's move on.
The press has treated this very unfairly. There are very fine people on both sides.
Yes, clearly the only way to stop this “assault” was to punch her in the face.
Thought I was on TMB for a second.....
This person 100% unironically celebrates how his southern heritage makes him have some special type of manners, particularly with respect to women
Wait, so a woman slaps a cop while under arrest a people are upset she was hit? What's he supposed to do, take her off his shoulder while she being physically removed and ask her to stop? Does she deserve special attention because she's a woman?
Candy corn isn’t all that bad.
it’s always the same group of posters...
Sumlin should've been fired years ago. He's the worst coach in the SoftEC West, and you had to know the boosters of A&M weren't going to continue putting up with the mediocrity they've tolerated since 1920 for much longer.
Have you guys ever put celery and onions in your bog? I'm debating and could really use some input.
