They are going to have to pay him a shit ton of money to leave a defense anchored Dexter Lawrence for whatever bums they have at Slaw...

I highly doubt any decision Venables makes would be money driven.

That really sucks for him. Seems like even though he had character issues that kept him from clemson he still had a shitload of talent. Good that they caught that issue before he went into cardiac arrest on the practice field or a game

Yeah feel terrible for him. Don't really care we didn't sign him as odds were we'd never play him but fuck that's a shitty thing to have happen.

On plus side mat saved his life like you said

Wonder what happens to guy a like that, for whom sports may have been the only thing keeping him close to the straight and narrow.

Would love to believe the program finds a way to integrate a guy like that if he's passionate about the game. At least give him a chance to find a place, build some skills, etc

Fuck, very least you'd hope he'd keep getting the tutoring and what not with the medical waiver. Pretty sure that's allowable

It is going to be Venables. Morris has come out and said a few times that he will be hiring the best DC in college football.

    1. His best friend is Venables. He is either foreshadowing or he is telling the world there are better DC's than his best friend.
    2. We have not hired a single person on the defensive side of the ball.
    3. There are no names leaking out.

That would be crazy. If it happens it won't happen until Jan.

Started with the truth that they are friends and BV did buy Morris’ house. Then it morphed into some weird bromance where Venables leaves his annual top 5 defense in Clemson to be with his man crush

How does buying/selling a house get construed as being friends? That was probably nothing more than an arrangement out of convenience. Venables could be pissed after finding an undisclosed leak in the basement for all we know.

That’s not why people think they are friends. That’s just being extrapolated into the weird bromance

Prairie View A&M head coach Willie Simmons will be the next football coach at Florida A&M and will be introduced during an 11 a.m. press conference on Tuesday according to multiple reports.

Simmons has been at Prairie View A&M the last three years and had an impressive record of 21-11.

"We want to thank Coach Simmons and his family for their contributions to Prairie View A&M University," said Athletic Director Ashley Robinson in a statement.

"He led Panther football through an exciting period with the opening of our new football stadium and helped Prairie View A&M to again become a contender in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. We wish him success in his future endeavors."

Simmons has previous coaching stints at Alcorn State (offensive coordinator), Middle Tennessee State (offensive coordinator), and Clemson (graduate assistant).

The former Clemson quarterback lettered three years at Clemson from 2000-2002 and passed for 2,530 yards and 16 touchdowns in 24 games.

I was at that game. Youngblood balled out, 3 TD catches if'n I recall. Or maybe it was Gardner. Shuddup, @Keywan1474.

For those that were old enough to remember (I was only nine)....how much buzz and excitement was around the program when we were sitting at 8-0 and #5 in the country in 2000? Did we have a legit team? I remember going to the FSU game with my dad that year and getting absolutely throttled.

Harder to tell vs today without as much media around now. There wasn't as much sports radio, not as much ESPN coverage, and social media and message boards weren't as big as they are now. From what I remember, we knew we weren't as good as our record.

There was a lot of excitement and the team was pretty good. We probably had some false confidence because we thought we'd found coaching gold in Bowden. The team peaked early and the FSU game lost a lot of buzz when we lost to Georgia Tech the week before.

Weinke completed a hundred yards touchdown pass to Snoop Mennis and that was all she wrote...

Also, campus was super dialed in that year. Even after the GT loss.
