College basketball is so crooked that it took the Feds to bring it down. UNC is laughing at the NCAA.

    Louisville AD Tom Jurich Fired
Louisville athletic director Tom Jurich was relieved of his duties on Tuesday morning

Tom Jurich, who began his career as the athletic director at the University of Louisville on Oct. 21, 1997, was relieved of those duties during a brief meeting with the school's interim President Greg Postel on Tuesday morning.

Sources confirmed with Cardinal Authority shortly after the meeting of Jurich's dismissal.

The dismissal comes following two recent scandals surrounding the men's basketball program, including the latest that was uncovered by an FBI investigation that catches the program in a pay-for-play scheme.

Stay with Cardinal Authority for continuing coverage as it happens.

Jurich was the gold standard for ADs like 2 years ago :haha: Turns out it was because he was selling his soul for slimy coaches.

It absolutely blows my mind that people do this kind of stuff and figure they'll never get caught.

I'm sure they think that. When is the last time someone went to jail for something like this?

They get away with it a WHOLE lot more than they get caught doing it. Now, to this egregious level...I'm sure it's not THAT common, but it's certainly happened and the perpetrators are probably still walking around as ADs, head coaches, etc.

Jurich is on paid administrative leave.

Pitino is on unpaid administrative leave.

I'm assuming they're both on their way out, but paid leave?

Edit: Sounds like it's all part of the contracts.

From listening to the press conference, they are likely both on paid administrative leave while the lawyers determine if they can be fired with cause or fired without cause. Considering both of their contracts, it's worth millions to Louisville to figure out what the correct reason for termination will be.

Holy shit. College sports is going to get wrecked. Would not be surprised if this ends up bleeding into other sports. This is probably just the beginning of some major changes.

I doubt it hits other sports as hard as it hits basketball, simply because I would bet the apparel companies get a higher ROI based on where star basketball recruits go than football.

Won't touch football, guys like World Wide Wes control college basketball through the shoe companies, football is ran by booster money.

Nobody would expect us to go heavy into buying basketball recruits right now. Perfect crime. Either we get away with it and basketball is worthwhile or we get caught and can finally put the program out to pasture.
