Our coverage was an issue, we’ve been pretty good there the past two years
I could be wrong but I read his post more so complaining about having 2 kickers on scholarship and 1 of those kickers not being capable of kicking a 30 hard FG with any consistency.
I have no idea what the issue is but that's not my job. I just think 108th in Special Teams efficiency is unacceptable. We've already seen how costly that can be.
And every team we play seems to hav a punter hitting 50+ yard punts and yet we get 35 yarders. The BC and GT punters were really good.
Another issue I have with special-teams is when is the last time we have returned a kick past the 30 yard line? Either are blocking is complete shit or we haven't found the right person back deep returning kicks and you can't tell me with all the athletes we have that we can't find somebody dangerous to return a kick
That BC punter was incredible that day hitting them inside the 10 every time.
GT punter was living off the roll. I think we have let them go because of the rain but most seemed short and rolled 10-15 yards. In a different situation, we better recognize that and come up to fair catch those.
We are averaging 42.95 yards per punt this year; opponents are averaging 43.61.
We only have 12 kickoff returns this year and I believe 4 of those are onside recoveries.
The kicking problems will be better next year between Potter and Huegel. Potter appears to be an automatic touchback and could be a stud on FGs following Huegel. Spiers is good and could be really good.
Kick and punt return, I have no idea. We have been very average there imo.
Interestingly, we had a better average punting yardage than Boston had; against gt, they had like 47 to our 39..and a lot more punts.
Part of this is because we apply no pressure to the punters. We don't hit the up backs. We merely go safe punt and allow the gunners to get 25 yards down field and let the punter stroke out a smooth one. Drives me bat shit crazy every time.
“Rain, sleet or snow, Tiger Nation they showed.”
Those were head coach Dabo Swinney’s words in 2015 after the Notre Dame game, and once again Clemson fans showed up for Saturday night’s 24-10 victory over Georgia Tech in monsoon-like conditions.
Recruits like 2019 5-star Bradenton (FL) IMG running back Noah Cain took notice of a fan base that shows up no matter the time or the weather.
“Seeing the faithful fan base was really cool and the family atmosphere of the team impressed me the most,” Cain told TigerNet Sunday evening. “I also enjoyed getting to meet Coach Swinney for the first time.”
While seeing Clemson for the first time, Cain had two pretty good tour guides in IMG teammates and Clemson commits Xavier Thomas and Mike Jones, Jr.
“It was real cool seeing them and being up there with them,” Cain said of his teammates.
Cain – the No. 23 player in the ESPN JR 300 – spent a considerable amount of time with running backs coach and area recruiter Tony Elliott learning about Clemson’s offense.
“I talked to Coach Elliott the most and his message to me was that I fit their culture and the offense they run,” he said. “I like their offense because they use the running backs in all aspects of the game.”
Elliott and Cain have been in contact since last spring, and the 5-11, 207-pound back said receiving the Clemson offer was icing on the cake after a good visit.
“The visit was really cool and it was a blessing to leave with a Clemson offer,” he said. “I know a Clemson offer is something a lot of recruits want nowadays. I feel good about Clemson because I’ve been talking to them for a good amount of time now, so getting the offer felt good yesterday.”
Cain has national offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Baylor, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Kansas, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, SMU, TCU, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Tulsa, and UCLA.
He said he already knows what he’s looking for in a school.
“I’ve visited Ohio State and Oklahoma this season and I’m going to Alabama next week,” he said. “The school I choose will be a family atmosphere and I will be really comfortable there.”
Cain is already making plans for a return trip to Clemson and if all goes well the Tigers will be in contention for the long haul.
“I don’t have a list yet but if I keep building that strong relationship with Clemson then they’ll be a top contender,” he said. “I plan to visit Clemson again early next year so I can get a full tour of the campus.”
During five games as a junior at IMG Cain has rushed for 270 yards and four touchdowns on 49 carries. As a sophomore at Denton (Texas), he carried the ball 210 times for 1,683 yards and 22 touchdowns.
I’m glad he was impressed with the crowd. Those seat backs help give the perception of attendance, as the stadium was two-thirds full at best.
Seemed like at one time, 6 out of 7 of his punts were inside the 10.
Pretty close, yeah.
First was 46 yards out at the 3.
Second was a 39 yard touchback.
Third was a 50 yarder down at 9.
Fourth was 38 yards down at 6.
Fif was 38 yards fair caught at 8.
Sixth was 30 yards down at 6.
Seventh was a paltry 34 yards that was fair caught at 33.
Eighth was 52 yard with the -2 yard return to the 10.
Ninth was the ray ray 56 yard return on the 53 yard punt.
So really the guy had a leg but didn't need to punt for distance much
I love when stats are thrown in the face of some bullshit you miserable people make up.
Well I trust my eyes over some obscure fucking number crunching. Our punting sucks, get over it bro.
Based on your avatar and your punt evals, you should quit trusting your eyes.
Oh so I should just trust the coaches? I've been coaching pee wee football now for 12 years, so yea, I'm gonna keep trusting my eyes bud.
Clemson offered Kevin Harris
Fravel CB'd him to us.
He tried to commit to us back in the spring.
Guess we are just settling for UGA rejects now
It's like it's 2007 again
Pretty sure I posted it here at that time.
Supposedly he’s been really good this season.
I assumed he was kidding. Maybe I hoped he was kidding.
Venebles here through 2024? There's no 2020 thread, so this will do.
I did start a 2020 thread a long time ago somewhere
Let the bitching commence
