no way I would take 6/1 unless we have a change at QB. I just don't see KB developing enough to beat an elite defense

By elite team you mean Bama, because we’d best about anyone else

Yep. Auburn, Miami, and VT all had excellent defenses. The difference in those 3 games and Bama was our OL.

I've got a feeling that we lost Justyn Ross last night. No inside info, but I think he was looking for a reason to go to Bama and he finally got it.

I felt like we lost Ross awhile ago. He changed his twitter background from the one of the guy taking the road less traveled, which I think clemson sent to him based on another out of state recruit having used it in the past. Like I always say with recruiting: follow the twitter profile background images.

Having an elite passer will alleviate OL issues. See: Deshaun Watson.

It's too early in the offseason to have this argument again. You said Kelly Bryant isn't good enough to beat elite defenses, I just listed two top 10 defenses he beat.

He ain't gonna beat bama because we can't consistently run on bama. You can't beat them throwing screens and shit. Gotta make them defend the whole field.

It’s crunch time for Army All-American linebacker Dax Hollifield.

He named a top three of North Carolina, Stanford and Virginia Tech last month, but Clemson is trying to make a late push for the Shelby (N.C.) standout.

Official visit-wise, he took trips to Florida State, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia Tech. He will take his final visit to Stanford this weekend. That leaves a few weekends before signing day for him to unofficially visit Clemson, which is two hours from his home. A final decision on a trip has not been made, but if he visits the Tigers, it look for it to be Jan. 20.

The Tigers' staff is pushing for him to make an unofficial that day so he can take in the basketball game against Notre Dame. Although Hollifield, a four-star prospect and the No. 8 inside linebacker in the 247Sports Composite, is not tipping his hand, many believe it will ultimately come down to Stanford and Virginia Tech.

Virginia Tech appeared to be the team to beat for most of football season, but after an unofficial visit to Stanford in November for its game against California, the Cardinal gained momentum. There is a lot of buzz lately Stanford leads. Despite the feeling it is a two-horse race, North Carolina and Clemson should not be counted out.

At the end of the day, we still believe location is a crucial factor. Is Hollifield, who is very close with his family, willing to go 3,000 miles away from home for college?

Because of that, this weekend’s visit to Stanford is huge. He was already there twice, but Hollifield will be able to spend more time with the coaches and get a better feel for the campus on this trip.

Following his visit to Palo Alto, he could make his commitment as early as next week. But if he decides to visit Clemson the following weekend, we are told he would likely make his decision shortly after his trip to Death Valley.

My brother-in-law didn't think Clemson had a chance in December when we jumped back in and said it would be Va Tech or Stanford. He now thinks it will be Clemson in the end. He said Jake Venables really sold Dax on the program at the Shrine Bowl. He also mentioned that Gabe Devoe played for Dax's dad at Shelby so there's a comfort level with Clemson by the family.

Longtime ESPN college football writer Ivan Maisel says the Crimson Tide’s 24-6 win in New Orleans marked a change in thinking for him.

“My perspective on Clemson has totally shifted in the last week from: ‘Look at what Dabo’s done - they’re here to stay,’” Maisel said on an ESPN podcast this week. “To seeing how they were dominated by Alabama last week, I stepped back and thought, you know what? They won one national championship because they had an incredible quarterback, but without that incredible quarterback, they were not at the same level as Alabama. Is this is a deal where it’s Jameis Winston and Florida State where they dropped off after he left?”

“I think Georgia is here to stay. Much like Clemson,” ESPN’s Chris Low said. “Remember when Clemson got in on the doorstep and lost that tough game to Alabama and everybody said, ‘Is Clemson just a team that sorta got there and now it’s going to be hard for them to sustain it?’

“I think Georgia’s exactly the same way as Clemson was. I think they’re going to be in the mix more times than not over the next five years.”

“I agree with about Georgia,” Maisel said, “but I don’t think the Clemson argument holds as much water as we thought it did 10 days ago.”

I wouldn't discount it. We need to improve our weaknesses and maintain our strength.

Otherwise the "Dabo could only win big with Deshaun" is the story.
